slam mode (spiritual life, glasgow underground, usa)

slam mode do not only produce music, they also dj. they have been spinning and collecting music since the early eighties. angel rodriguez and michael cole have a vast collection of music which stem from genres such as salsa, afro beat, latin jazz, reggae, drum & bass, deep house, minimal, jazz, new age, electronica, ambient soundscapes etc. two words to describe their style, " world eclectic ".

they have been inspired throughout the years by legendary dj's such as larry levan, shep pettibone, tony humphries, tee scott, david mancuso, and others. although they not held residency at any venues they've had guest spots at: bang the party (nyc), hamsa (nyc), baktun (nyc), ohm (nyc), match Cafe (nyc ), koncrete jungle (the anchorage, brooklyn, ny), lush (nyc), garage 416 (toronto), life (boston), crescent room (atlanta), propaganda (moscow), kerma (helsinki) & naked lunch (nyc).

in 1989, angel rodriguez and michael cole joined forces and began their venture on new jersey based label right area records along with three other partners. angel and michael arose to self-express themselves as dj / production team, slam mode. producing several releases for the label, the duo set out to create new paths with their own unique dj mixing style, with the intent of elevating themselves and their listeners to higher conscious boundaries.

angel and michael mark their influences as everything that is conceivable to be something. due to creative differences and direction with their partners on right area, the two decided to part with the label. the company then went defunct soon after. after a three year hiatus the two joined again starting their new imprint deep worldwide music. they continued to dj and showcase their production talent on this label, sometimes collaborating with deep house pioneer wayne gardiner aka logic / classic man who was responsible for the warning, one of house musics big classics on new york based record label strictly rhythm. the label was short lived and only turned out four incredible ep releases as their distribution company flying uk closed their doors.

slam mode then approached long time friend joe claussell, owner of spiritual life music and former co-owner of dance tracks record store who released two ep's on his label entitled "fiat mistura" and "distant sun". they also released an album on kevin mckay's glasgow underground label entitled "la colecion".
