dj venom (viper squad, incognito, difusion, uk)

chances are you haven't heard of dj venom yet, but you will. for the better part of the last decade, he has been holed up in his dad's london studio, studying his samplers and synthesizers, and learning by way of proximity to many musical greats. you see, daniel (as he's sometimes refereed to) was lucky enough to inherit the genes of his father, bluey, of the uk jazz-funk group incognito. as an early teen, daniel was thriving off the influence of the soul and jazz around him, but also of the emerging drum&bass, techno and hip hop scenes that were big amongst the youth. by age 15, he was remixing his father's work (check the 'bar rumba' remix off the 100 degrees and rising lp), in a sophisticated manner that simply perplexed those of us who knew. 9 years and a few record deals later (did u know he was gilles' youngest signing in the mid-90's), this young man has developed incredibly, while maintaining an extremely low profile (he likes it like that). recent work includes an lp recorded in rio for far out, production on the new incognito record, and a remix for arision recordings. however, his latest obsession has been for the dirty sounds of detroit's jay dee. for this trans.radio/milkaudio exclusive, we present to you venom's own jay dilla classic mix. mixed, scratched and freaked in the bedroom.
